The hood stays on my 2470mm zoom without any problems it's the lens cap that falls off In my bag, the lens hood protects anything brushing by the lens but not dirt and dust etc So, I don't need a replacement lens hood Based on the replies it gives me the impetus to cover the end of the lens with a socklike cover instead of the lens capI was using a pair of Canon EOS 5Ds R cameras with the Canon EF 1635mm f/4L IS USM Lens on one (capturing a wider image including the west side of the Schuylkill River) and the Canon EF 2470mm f/28L II USM Lens on the other, capturing a moretightly framed image emphasizing the city's great architecture with the riverwalk providing a strong leading line into the frame
